Woodstown is the village at the center of Salem County’s farm country, a Quaker settlement whose main street still runs past the housing of two centuries: Federal brick and frame fronts, Greek Revival doorways, and the porched Victorians and Colonial Revivals added as the town grew through the 1800s and early 1900s. Memorial Lake sits at the edge of the village, and the fields and horse farms begin more or less where the sidewalks end — Route 40 runs east from here through the country where the long-standing weekly rodeo at Cowtown has drawn crowds since the 1920s. It is a compact, well-kept village in an agricultural setting, and its houses have the problems that combination produces: old fabric, deep exposure and, in many cases, sash that has never been properly replaced.
Village work is survey work.
We will go through the main house and every wing behind it and tell you plainly what needs doing first.
