The Frenchwood® glider exists to solve a specific problem: French doors are the look most people actually want, and swinging them needs three or four feet of clear floor on one side. In a dining room with a table in it, or a bedroom that opens to a deck, that floor simply isn’t there.
So the 400 Series takes the tall, wide-stile proportions of a hinged French door and puts them on a gliding track. Standing in the room it reads as a French door. In use it slides. Inside it is natural wood — three interiors, plus white and black. Outside, the frame wears Andersen’s Perma-Shield® rigid vinyl sheath, and the wood panels carry a long-lasting factory urethane finish.
It is also the model that takes personalising furthest: custom grille patterns to echo the windows already in the house, blinds sealed between the glass, and a choice of gliding or retractable insect screens. It is the door we fit most often in NY Metro/New Jersey pre-war homes, where matching existing joinery is usually the whole job.
